About the Scholarship
The M.H. “Bill” Simmons Memorial Scholarship was established in the name of M.H. “Bill” Simmons who founded our company in 1949. In 1979, soon after Mr. Simmons passed, Mark Simmons created the scholarship to honor his father’s legacy. Graduating high school seniors who are the children of Simmons team members or growers and plan to attend a trade school, technical school, community college or university are eligible to apply for the scholarship program.
Applicants considering a degree or certificate program in an area of study with practical application for Simmons may also find opportunities for internships, summer programs, and a career with the company. The M.H. “Bill” Simmons Memorial Scholarship is more than a merit-based financial reward, it can be the beginning of a lasting relationship.
In celebration of their scholarship, recipients will receive a personalized note card from Mark Simmons, Chairman, and Todd Simmons, CEO, and a sign to display in their yard. Facilities across Simmons will display congratulation banners with the names of each team member and their child.
Please share this information and the online application link with anyone at Simmons who may have a graduating senior interested in applying.
For more information, please see your Human Resources Manager or contact Renae Sasnett.
A Message From Mark Simmons, Chairman
During the existence of the M.H. “Bill” Simmons Memorial Scholarship program, assistance has been provided to over 1,300 graduating seniors, surpassing $1.6 million in total support. In 2025, Simmons is very proud to continue the tradition of helping the children of our team members and growers to pursue vocational, technical, or college degree programs after graduating from high school.
Applications are now being accepted for this year’s program. All applications will be evaluated by the Scholarship Committee, however, there is no guarantee that each child will receive a scholarship. The committee will carefully consider and determine awards based on the information provided including grade point average, ACT or SAT scores, financial need, field of study, and team member years of service.
Mark Simmons, Chairman
