Thank you to the team members of Simmons Foods for all you are doing to mobilize our response to the coronavirus pandemic. These are stressful times, but I am proud of the way you are faithfully and fearlessly continuing to overcome the challenges of this situation. Each day I see examples of how this crisis is making us stronger.
The work we do is critical to the food supply our communities, our nation, and the world rely on. The U.S. Government has recognized the food industry as a critical infrastructure industry and stated that we have a special responsibility to maintain normal work schedules. We appreciate this recognition and we are committed to maintaining our full production schedules at all of our plants while also taking steps to protect the health of our team members.
This is an important time to rally around each other and our communities. This week we will deliver over 6,000 lunches to our team members working in food production. This is only a small gesture of thanks for the work being done, but also a way to support local businesses seeing a downturn in activity.
We’re also reaching out to support local food programs who are helping children and senior citizens and to shelters who are feeding pets.
My hope is, when the days have passed and this virus is well behind us, together we will look back with pride knowing we did the right things in the right way for our team members, customers, suppliers and communities.
Our company values continue to guide us: Put People First. Act with Integrity. Take Responsibility. Be Curious. Take Action.
Let’s faithfully steward all God has entrusted as we bring more clarity to our vision of "Building Strong Relationships through Food." Please join me in continuing to pray for the health, safety and security of our 8,000 team members, our communities, medical professionals, government leaders and all those rising to meet the challenge of this pandemic.
With respect and gratitude,
Todd Simmons, CEO
